About Our Founder

Vern Snow had talent. He had the ability to both build and fix nearly anything. Whether it was a project made out of metal, steel or wood, he could build it. It was his gift and his passion to visualize something, put it on paper and make it a reality. Although he was proud of his mill right work he did at Libbey Owens Ford during his 30 years there, he knew he wanted to do something different. Knowing he was going to retire in 1987 at a young age, he decided to put his time and energy into a new passion.

In 1983, with the help and support of his wife Sharon, he founded Snow’s Wood Shop. His goal was modest: own a one or two man cabinet shop that built fine, custom cabinetry for local customers. His plan was simple: make the customer happy. He felt he would achieve that with this formula:

• Work with the customer to come up with a design

• Go over this design with the customer in great detail so as to not miss anything

• Build the cabinets to the specs with the goal of exceeding the customers expectations

• Install the project on time

He knew that treating the customer the way he would want to be treated would lead to a satisfied customer, and he understood that satisfied customers help create more customers.

Even though his original goal was modest, it didn’t take long for him to exceed that and become one of the biggest cabinet shops in Northwest Ohio. Although he has been retired from Snow’s for several years and passed away March 17, 2020, his legacy lives on with his family.

Many of Snow’s past & current employees still talk about how Vern’s work ethic, creativity & attention to detail still impacts them today. The 2nd generation of Snow’s family ownership and all their employees take great pride in honoring Vern by continuing to grow in achieving great design, great craftsmanship & great timeliness.

• Tom Steedman

Tom Steedman has been in the custom cabinet business since 2004. Tom handles cabinet design/layouts, countertop quotes, in-home appointments, showroom selections, scheduling of work, and overall project management with our special product items.

• Leslie Welling

Leslie has been with Snow’s Wood Shop since 2012 and is the Oregon showroom/production facility office manager. Leslie handles typing and ensuring you receive your quotes, calls and emails with schedule details, and manages our accounts receivable. Leslie works exclusively out of our Oregon showroom/facility.

• Cabinet Making and Installation Team

A majority of the team has been working at Snow’s for over 20 years. With this experience comes great pride in their craft.
